What is STEP?

STEP is a program that introduces students to the construction trades industry through hands on experiences in a realistic work environment.   Students will gain experience in various construction trades industries such as; Electrical, Carpentry, and Concrete.  Throughout the program(s) students will work towards certifications that are needed to work in the construction trades industry.

What students bring each day

  • Appropriate dress for work (clothes you do not mind getting dirty)
  • Positive attitude & work ethic

 

 

STEP ONEroofing
Shop orientation, personal safety, tool safety & experience, basic electrical & carpentry, certifications and an introduction to concrete.

STEP TWO
Shop, tool/equipment safety & experience, electrical, construction framing, metal fabrication, certifications, concrete and an introduction to forklift.

STEP THREE

Forklift certification, supervisor and management certification, various special projects in  electrical, carpentry, metal fab or concrete.
